Redeye Caravan is a unique and spacey name for the newer Greek scene. They're coming for the countryside and they play the perfect combination of folk and heavy rock.
-First of all, who are Redeye Caravan?
Howdy folks! Thank u for inviting us and it’s a pleasure to meet you! The Caravan consists of seven members : Akis Kosmidis (vocals, acoustic guitar), Panos Makoulis (electric, slide, acoustic guitars, keys, vocals), Valantis Dafkos (bass, vocals), Eleni Paraskevopoulou (vocals), Stefanos Strogylis (harmonica), Thanos Giamarelos (violin), Paris Gatsios (drums, percussion).
-How did you decide to combine country music with rock?
The first ingredient of our music is a good story! Once we have a good story to tell we create the music and the atmosphere needed. The musical ideas drop out of our heads once the Caravan is gathered.
-Can you tell us about your new song?
The Wild West is full of legends and fables passed around by word of mouth, some of them surviving to this day, still retaining every bit of their eerie quality. They give birth to ideas in music, in cinematography, in all kinds of art in general.
In “El Muerto” we come across two common mythology themes, which unfold one after the other, the first becoming the herald of sorts for the next one.
The first of those themes, which is also the first verse of the song, manifests itself as the black bird emerging, which was believed by the natives to be a harbinger of death or evil, appearing right before a death would occur, or foretelling the coming of disaster. In our case the black bird is the herald of the headless horseman’s arrival!
The second theme, which is also the second verse of the song, is taking shape in the form of El Muerto himself, a fabled figure reminiscent of the legend of Sleepy Hollow and the Headless Horseman. He terrorizes, he kills, he brings all kinds of devastation and despair right at the frontier of southern Texas and Mexico!
-When can we expect your debut album?
«Nostrum Remedium» is done and soon to be released…so stay tuned! You can expect music and lyrics which can help you escape from your daily routine and make you travel in a parallel world, full of mystery and tunes!
-How did you see the Greek rock scene?
Well, the Greek rock, metal, stoner and folk scenes have always been active! These last few years just had the rest of the world noticing!
- Do you like Greek folk music?
Whether we want/like it or not, folk (traditional) music is a part of ourselves, since it is intertwined in our culture! Having said that, we like whatever comes from the soul and what we find truthful and meaningful, we support it!
-Have you plans for live shows?
Once the album is released, we will start playing to share our stories with all the people that want to take a trip with the Caravan and become a part of it.
-What are your plans for the future?
More stories to tell, more albums, shows and great times with the Caravan!
