Eater of Man

Meet with Debora Romaow.

By Andreas Andreou

Eater of Man were hosted in our printed magazines’ pages some time ago. Since then and until today, a major change occurred within the band. The male vocals have been replaced by female ones, without losing though any of their dynamic and tension that their music requires. We spoke with their newest member and we introduce her to you. Let’s get to know Debora Romaow.

What where you doing before Eater of Man?

Before joining Eater of Man I was already in another heavy metal band where also I did extreme vocals sometimes combined with melodic vocals. I am actually bringing the same vocal style to Eater of Man as our new songs have some melodic parts, although for the majority the vocals are still extreme.

I started taking singing lessons three years ago, and firstly started as a melodic/operatic singer. I was trained classically by my teacher. Although after a couple of years of doing so, I realised that it wasn’t really what I wanted, because my desire was to be part of a metal band and be able to become an extreme vocalist. So I started learning scream and growl techniques around February 2018.

How come you became the singer of Eater of Man?

I joined Eater of Man around September 2018 after finding an ad on join my band. I contacted Stavros and we arranged an audition. For the audition I sang Homnipotence and Spawned by Chaos from their first EP (The Void).

What kind of music do you listen to mostly?

My main music influence includes Decapitated, Bloodbath, Fear Factory, Obituary, Opeth, At The Gates, Napalm Death.

How did you fit in with the rest of the band?

I was used to being the only girl in the band from some of my past band related experiences. I had a very good welcoming into the band and everyone was really nice to me and supportive.

What are your dreams with Eater of Man?

We take things step by step. At the moment the first dream to accomplish is the release of the album as well as playing some good shows in London and outside London if the opportunity comes along.

What is the band working on at this time?

At the moment we are working on a full length album. We have demoed 4 songs so far.
